Tech News: The Top 5 Worst Tech Inventions of 2010
In 2010, several innovative products were introduced to the market. However, some of these gadgets failed to make their mark on consumers. Although intended to make breakthroughs in the technological world, these inventions had many glitches and drawbacks detracting from their main purpose.
Here are the top 5 worst gadgets of 2010.
- Fusion Garage JooJoo Tablet: Weighing twice as much as the popular iPad, this device only had half the usability as its competition. With a buggy interface, low battery life, and no access to apps, this $500 invention failed to impress users.
- The Shake Weight: This product was never really taken seriously, as Saturday Night Life poked fun at this gadget numerous times. The 5-pound weight failed to produce a massive increase in heart rates, and users reported that they didn’t get the same feelings of satisfaction as they did with traditional weightlifting routines.
- As Seen on TV Smart Mop: Not nearly as sturdy as traditional mops, this lightweight cleaning tool kept falling apart when put to use. In addition to loose screws, the end plug would continuously scrape along the floor. “This is the worst mop ever. The wringing idea just doesn’t work.” – from an Amazon Review about the Smart Mop
- MSI GX 660 Notebook: The unattractive, bulky design of this computer made users cringe. In addition to an unappealing design, the notebook had oversized speakers visible on its base, as well as an extremely loud cooling fan.
- JakPak All-in-one Waterproof Jacket/Sleeping Bag/Tent: This 3-pound, bulky shield costed twice as much as other waterproof jackets. With its excessive straps, pockets, and zippers, re-assembly was a nightmare. Once covered in this waterproof sleeve, the smell of urethane was overbearing.
Nevertheless, there were still some gadgets that made a lasting impression on their industries. Re-introduced in 2010, the world’s smallest microwave oven – the iWavecube – was a success with its increased fan base and national promotion campaign. “I own a silver Iwave Cube-I use it in our little camper. Simply put-I love it!” – R. Clark, Lenexa, KS
