Take it Outside: Small, Portable Microwave Perfect for Summertime Picnics

Memorial Day marks the unofficial beginning of summer and has become an occasion for families to spend time together throwing the Frisbee, fishing and cooking out.

What’s a nicer way to kick off the summer season than to pack up a picnic lunch and hit the road? Whether it’s a tiny patch of grass in a neighborhood park or a bank by a river, claiming a green area to share a meal and soak up the sun with family and friends is a passage of spring into summer.

Packing a picnic can be fun and challenging. You want something better than the normal turkey sandwiches and potato salad, but food that’s easy to prepare so you can enjoy family time.

For all your picnic needs without the hassle, a small, portable microwave is perfect. Plug it into a nearby generator for power, and it becomes the ultimate picnic accessory. It easily fits in the trunk of a car. Re-heat leftovers from the night before. Cooking hamburgers, hot dogs, cheese sticks and chicken wings will become so simple. Warm up cheese dip and create loaded nachos for an easy treat between pool and meal time.

The portable, small microwave gives you an easy-to-use, travel-friendly microwave in a place where you are usually unable to have the technology.

Now that your food’s covered, all you have to worry about is getting out there and making some summer picnic memories.

College Graduation: New Challenges, Tiny Apartment Space Requires Small Appliances Part 2

Clean up small spaces, even kitchens.

With the demands of work, family and friends, it isn’t easy to keep your apartment constantly in order.

It only takes a little clutter to make small spaces look messy. After a long day of work, cleaning up the apartment is the last thing on your “To Do list.” You may even find yourself overwhelmed by clutter.

3 Steps to Help De-Clutter Your Small Space

1. The most obvious first step is to eliminate the clutter – easier said than done. You must throw out unneeded items – old receipts, magazines, mail, etc. Only keep the items that are necessary like billing statements and appointment reminders or items that hold significant value from a loved one. It can be very overwhelming to organize all of the clutter, but you need to get rid of items. Ask yourself how important is it to keep the item? You’ll enjoy your more open, clutter free space when its filled with items that you absolutely need or love. Don’t feel guilty for giving items away that don’t hold much meaning.

2. Ask yourself what’s the purpose of the room? What activities do you want to occur in it? Store items in the room where you use them. This way you’ll have easy access to them when you need them. Watch DVD’s often? Keep a fashionable bin next to the TV table.

3. Create innovative, functional, storage space. Your storage method should make it easier to put things away and find them when you need them. Your storage unit should hide your items – not add to the clutter. Time is precious. You don’t always have a moment to put things away. You must decide a storage system that works best for you. Whether its keeping a basket in a corner to throw items in and emptying and putting away when filled, or having a paper basket to sort through junk mail and important documents.

With a small kitchen, small appliances are needed to maximize your counter space.

When your counter space is limited, having a waffle iron, blender, coffee maker, microwave and toaster taking up what little space there is can make you feel cramped. Use your kitchen walls and the sides of cabinets to attach shelves and hooks to get items off your counter. Consider shelves for large pans, mixing bowls and small appliances.

It’s not how much space you have that determines how comfortable you live, but instead how you design and organize your space. Remember that there is a place for everything and everything in its place.

College Graduation: New Challenges, Tiny Apartment Space Requires Small Appliances Part 1

Small apartment kitchens need small kitchen appliances.

College isn’t just a place to learn about science, math and history; it forces you to become an adult. The college experience is life-changing as it teaches you how to fend for yourself in the “real” world. Upon college graduation, you have a goal and direction, and chances are, a tiny apartment too.

Make the first steps as adults a little easier with the help of small appliances. In a small apartment, sometimes the kitchen can be nothing but a narrow hallway with barely enough room for a fridge and stove, let alone a coffee pot and microwave. Space is critical.

A small microwave doesn’t take up too much space on the small counter and can even be stored in a closet when not in use to save even more space. After a long day at law or medical school or between jobs, reheat meals or cook snacks easier in a small kitchen.

Your apartment is small enough. Get the most out of your kitchen space.
